In the Grand Campaign game seventeen factions are playable. Of these, only England, France, the Holy Roman Empire, Spain, and Venice are available from outset. The other playable factions may be unlocked all at once by winning a campaign (short or long) as one of the five initially available factions.

2028 Total War Victory ( 1815- 1905) Big expansions like Fots for Shogun 2 – with the Crimean War, American Civil War, British – Zulu War. I don’t think that 1&2 are different enough to justify different games for them.

Are there any medieval games for Total War?
Both original Total War games set in the medieval period also were released prior to the big engine overhaul that came with Rome 2 and beyond, so there’s definitely hunger for a modern, shiny, and medieval-y Total War using this setting. Crusader Kings has also shown how popular it can be.

Just can’t help but think how good Napoleon total War 2 would be so good since coming along way since then. Ship battles where well ahead of their time in that mechanic wise. A part of me would like them to stretch back that timeline to the revolutionary wars.

The next historic titles, may it be Med3, Pike&Shot or Victoria will definitely be classic TW games again because they are based on historic sources and events. I’m not sure if we will ever see a traditional historical game.

I suspect (and hope) that sometime in early 2020 CA will announce that they’re developing Total War: Medieval III. It can go two ways from here; either they release in Summer 2020, or don’t release until Early 2021.
