Date Founded: Aug 1999
Blogger was originally launched in 1999 by Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan, co-foundefrs of Pyra Labs. The two set out to create project management software but created blogger as a spinoff and one of the first websites to produce and organize weblogs. Williams is responsible for the terms “blog” and “blogger” as a result of his work. Pyra Labs was eventually bought in 2003 by Google, which resulted in the blogging service becoming a part of the company.
